Breath clouds is an interactive installation designed by Chris Cottrell, a PhD candidate at RMIT University. My role in this project was the design of the visualisation engine, which I developed using Unity3ds' particle system.
Coupled to a suite of electronic sensors the visualisation engine was used to rendering changes in humidity, light and temperature. The engine incorporates an OSC framework, enabling it to receive realtime sensor data sent via an arduino board and MaxMSP. As users interact with the sensor device, the changing values in temperature, humidity and light begins to modulating particle parameters. Active particle parameters include growth rate, rate of movement and density.
